If caught without a valid commercial driving license
Operating a heavy truck or bus without a valid commercial licence is illegal. The fine is QR 1,500, and the driver risks licence suspension or confiscation due to the safety risks involved.
If using incorrect or expired registration plates
Registration plates must be valid, legible, and properly attached. Using expired, tampered, or fake plates can lead to fines up to QR 1,000 and impoundment of the vehicle for verification.
If your load blocks license plates or lights
Loads that cover license plates or rear lights reduce visibility and make identification difficult. This violation leads to a QR 500 fine, and the driver may be stopped until the load is secured correctly.
If tailgating or failing to keep safe following distance
Commercial vehicles require longer stopping distances. Failing to maintain a safe gap increases the chance of a crash and leads to a QR 500 fine and possibly black points added to the licence.
If you fail to yield to a school bus with flashing lights
When a school bus has its lights flashing, all vehicles must stop. Failing to do so risks children safety and results in a QR 500 fine and 4 demerit points under Qatar traffic law.
